Despite initial opposition to the reception, by conservative extremists coming mainly from outside the valley, in 2013 the Cooperative K-Pax bought and assumed the management of a previously abandoned Hotel Giardino to be used to host migrants, give them an occupation and a place where to make cultural events, learn italian, meet the local population.
Hotel Giardino, now completely renovated, has become an eco-hotel, the only one in the Valle Camonica that promotes the use of local products and a sustainable approach to tourism. Migrants, after a period of specialized training, are directly involved as guides who offer tours to nearby mountain pastures and farms, or as organizers of events such as cooking classes, as well as in a bike-sharing service
