During 2018 the legislative framework for migrants in Italy has deeply changed, so in 2019 three ONG from the Province of Brescia decided to set up a non-governmental project for the sustenance of migrants. It seems an action against an incorrect action of the government.
The working group had to respond to specific requests primarily linked to situations of psychological distress and psychiatric suffering of some beneficiaries. More it had to respond to the request for basic necessities such as food and accommodation, thus having to invest in the provision of low-threshold services. In summary:
- Board and lodging
- Health costs (one of the assisted migrant had tuberculosis)
- Legal assistance
- Help in drawing up a CV and to find a job
- Transports and social assistance (i.e. many of them didn’t speak any Italian, so they needed help for shopping).
